Mexico will host the first ceremony ahead of the tournament opener between Mexico and South Africa on June 11 at Estadio Azteca, which will temporarily be known as Mexico City Stadium during the competition.
The ceremony will feature performances from J Balvin, Mexican rock group Maná, and singer Alejandro Fernández, son of legendary ranchera icon Vicente Fernández.
Also set to perform are Belinda, Lila Downs, Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema, South African singer Tyla, and Mexican cumbia group Los Ángeles Azules.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the ceremonies as a global celebration that would blend music, culture and football while reflecting the uniqueness of each host nation.
Canada’s opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12 in Toronto will include performances from Alanis Morissette, Michael Bublé, Alessia Cara, Elyanna, Jessie Reyez and Nora Fatehi.
Organisers said the Canadian show would highlight the country’s culture and diversity from coast to coast.
Later that same day, the United States will begin their World Cup campaign against Paraguay in Los Angeles, where another high-profile ceremony is planned.
Performers for the U.S. event include Katy Perry, Future, Lisa, Brazilian singer Anitta, Rema and Tyla, with FIFA indicating that more acts will still be announced.
According to organisers, the lineup reflects America’s cultural diversity and the influence of its different communities on global entertainment and music.
Other performers expected to appear during the opening celebrations include Venezuelan reggaeton artist Danny Ocean and Bangladeshi-American DJ Sanjoy.
Fans attending the ceremonies have been encouraged to arrive early, with organisers promising interactive experiences throughout the events.
