The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has cautioned candidates participating in its 2026/2027 Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) Aptitude Test to strictly comply with examination rules and avoid all forms of malpractice.
The warning was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the university’s Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs Abosede Wickliffe.

According to the statement, the online aptitude test will take place from July 27 to July 31 and will be conducted under a remotely proctored examination system.
Wickliffe stressed that candidates are expected to adhere to all examination guidelines, noting that any breach of the regulations could result in disqualification or other disciplinary measures.
She explained that participants must use only laptops equipped with built-in webcams and microphones throughout the examination.
The registrar added that the use of mobile phones, tablets, external webcams, headphones, smart glasses and other electronic gadgets is strictly prohibited during the test.
Candidates are also required to sit for the examination alone in a quiet, well-lit location for the entire 30-minute duration.
She warned that talking during the examination, reading questions aloud or permitting anyone else into the examination space would be regarded as examination misconduct.
Wickliffe advised candidates to ensure they have a stable internet connection and reliable electricity supply before the examination begins.
She noted that the university would not be responsible for interruptions arising from network failures, power outages or other technical challenges beyond its control.
Candidates who encounter technical issues during the examination were advised to use the “Need Help?” option available on the examination platform immediately.
The registrar further disclosed that participation in the mock examination, which will remain available until July 25, is compulsory for all candidates.
According to her, the mock test is designed to confirm device compatibility, internet stability, webcam functionality and overall readiness for the main examination.
She also stated that the Safe Examination Browser is compatible only with devices running Windows 10 or later and macOS Ventura or newer versions.
Candidates were encouraged to use the same laptop, internet connection and examination environment for both the mock exercise and the main aptitude test.
Wickliffe also warned applicants against dealing with unauthorised agents, cybercafés, business centres or CBT centres claiming to represent or have links with UNILAG.
She emphasised that the screening exercise will be conducted entirely online, allowing candidates to write the examination from locations of their choice.
The registrar clarified that the approved screening fee remains ₦5,500, comprising a ₦2,000 application fee and a ₦3,500 administrative charge.
She urged candidates to rely only on information published through the university’s official website and other verified communication channels.
The university also warned that impersonation, fraud, unauthorised assistance and every form of examination malpractice could lead to the cancellation of a candidate’s application or examination result.
Wickliffe reaffirmed that the university’s decisions regarding the conduct and outcome of the Post-UTME Aptitude Test will be final and binding.
