Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala
The Presidency has commended Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, for receiving the Rockefeller Foundation Leadership Award.
Okonjo-Iweala was honoured alongside notable global figures, including Paul Polman, former Chief Executive Officer of Unilever, and Simão Jatene, Governor of Pará State in Brazil.

According to the organisers, she was recognised for her exceptional courage and proven ability to drive economic reforms and provide effective leadership in challenging circumstances.
In response, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) congratulated her during its weekly meeting in Abuja.
Speaking to State House correspondents, the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, said the Council, led by the President, applauded her achievement and described it as a source of national pride.
He noted that the continued recognition of Nigerians, including top government officials, reflects the country’s wealth of talent and its capacity to achieve sustained economic growth and development. He added that the President and members of the Council encouraged her to build on the recognition by delivering even greater service to the nation.
Previous recipients of the award include global figures such as Bill Clinton, Richard Branson, Nelson Mandela, and Kofi Annan.
Aside from Okonjo-Iweala, the only other Nigerian to have received the award is Bisi Fayemi, wife of the Ekiti State governor.
