The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has successfully rescued three children allegedly abducted by suspected child traffickers and arrested two individuals in connection with the crime in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, disclosed the development in a statement issued in Uyo on Thursday.

According to her, police operatives received an emergency report at about 7 p.m. on Wednesday from a concerned resident who alerted authorities about the suspected abduction of three children in the Ekparakwa community.
Following the tip-off, detectives were immediately deployed to the area. Security personnel swiftly launched a coordinated operation, blocking major routes and monitoring entry and exit points to prevent the suspects from escaping with the victims.
During the operation, officers intercepted a commercial minibus bearing registration number 830 PH. A thorough inspection of the vehicle led to the discovery of the three missing children concealed inside.
The children were rescued safely without sustaining any injuries, while two suspects believed to be involved in the trafficking attempt were apprehended at the scene.
The police assured residents that investigations are ongoing and that anyone connected to the crime will be brought to justice.
The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the command’s determination to tackle child trafficking, kidnapping, and other criminal activities across the state.
He also appealed to members of the public to remain alert and continue sharing useful information with law enforcement agencies, stressing that timely intelligence remains crucial in combating crime.
The police chief further assured residents that all information supplied by citizens would be handled discreetly and with the highest level of confidentiality.
