The Nigerian Army has announced a wide-ranging redeployment of senior officers in a strategic move aimed at boosting operational efficiency and strengthening security operations across the country.
The changes, which cover key command, operational, training, and administrative positions, were disclosed on Saturday in a statement signed by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele.

According to the Army, the latest postings involve General Officers Commanding (GOCs), brigade commanders, commandants of military institutions, and senior staff officers at Army Headquarters.
Among the appointments, Major General EI Okoro has been named the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander of Joint Task Force South-South Operation DELTA SAFE, taking over from Major General EE Emeka.
Major General JR Lar has been appointed Commander of Army Headquarters Garrison, while Brigadier General OM Oyekola assumes office as Acting Military Secretary (Army). Brigadier General I Waziri will continue serving as Chief of Staff in the Office of the Chief of Army Staff.
As part of efforts to strengthen frontline operations, Brigadier General IB Buhari has been posted to Headquarters 63 Brigade as Commander, while Brigadier General K Rabiu will lead Headquarters 31 Artillery Brigade.
The Army also announced the appointment of Major General O Adegbe as Director of Intelligence and Security at Defence Headquarters.
Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, approved the strategic postings, describing them as part of ongoing efforts to improve the Army’s readiness to tackle evolving security threats across the nation.
In another key appointment, Major General WM Dangana has been named General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, replacing Major General EF Oyinlola.
The reshuffle also affected military training institutions. Major General KE Chigbu was appointed Deputy Commandant of the National Defence College, while Major General SD Makolo takes over as Commandant of the Nigerian Army Armour School. Brigadier General U Ahmad has also been named Commandant of Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria.
Reflecting the Army’s increasing focus on modern warfare and technological advancement, Major General SA Emmanuel has been appointed Commander of the Nigerian Army Space Command.
According to the statement, the appointment underscores the Army’s commitment to expanding its capabilities in emerging areas of warfare and technology-driven security operations.
Elsewhere, Major General KO Ukandu has been appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Post Housing Development Limited, while Major General AI Allison will serve as Managing Director of Defence Properties Limited.
Other senior appointments include Major General SO Adejimi as Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport, and Major General FS Etim as Chief of Training at the Headquarters Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC).
The Chief of Army Staff urged all newly appointed officers to uphold the highest standards of leadership, professionalism, innovation, and dedication while carrying out their responsibilities.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to building a highly professional, combat-ready, and people-focused force capable of effectively safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty, protecting its territorial integrity, and supporting civil authorities in maintaining peace and national security.
