Delivering his acceptance address, the governor said his decision to contest was inspired by the desire to revive hope among Nigerians and restore confidence in the nation’s future.
“I stand before you today with gratitude and a strong sense of duty as I accept the nomination to serve as the Presidential Candidate of the Allied People’s Movement for the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
He stressed that Nigeria could rebuild its economy through integrity, discipline and realistic policy measures capable of improving citizens’ daily lives.
“I am convinced that our country has what it takes to revive the economy through honesty, accountability and practical reforms that will positively impact ordinary Nigerians,” Makinde stated.
The governor pledged to reposition the oil and gas sector to ensure citizens benefit more from the nation’s natural resources.
“As an oil-producing nation, Nigerians deserve to enjoy the benefits of our natural wealth just like citizens of other resource-rich countries.
“The Nigerian National Petroleum Company must be transformed into a more efficient, commercially focused and transparent institution through corporate restructuring, stronger collaborations and institutional reforms,” he added.
Makinde also highlighted agriculture as a major driver of economic growth, calling for improvements in farming, food processing, storage systems and agricultural transportation.
He further stated that his campaign would be centred on competence, innovation and workable solutions rather than political rhetoric.
Speaking at the event, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by his deputy, Mohammed Jatau, threw his support behind Makinde, describing him as a visionary leader with the capacity to reposition Nigeria.
“We are here on behalf of the government and people of Bauchi State to support and celebrate the emergence of our dear brother, Oluwaseyi Makinde, as the Presidential Candidate of the Allied People’s Movement,” he said.
APM National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, also commended the conduct of the primary, describing the exercise as peaceful, credible and transparent.
