Lionel Messi
Lionel Messi has been diagnosed with fatigue in his left hamstring, raising concerns just weeks before the World Cup, according to an update released by Inter Miami CF on Monday.
The Major League Soccer side did not specify when the Argentine captain would return to action after he was forced off during Miami’s 6-4 win over Philadelphia Union on Sunday.

The 38-year-old forward appeared uncomfortable in the 73rd minute after clutching the back of his left leg and signalling to be substituted, though he walked off the pitch without visible difficulty.
In a statement, Inter Miami said further medical examinations confirmed “an overload linked to muscle fatigue in his left hamstring.”
The club added that his recovery timeline would depend on how he responds clinically and physically in the coming days.
The update leaves uncertainty over the condition of the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner as Argentina national football team prepares to defend its World Cup title at the tournament jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, beginning on June 11.
Argentina are scheduled to open their campaign against Algeria national football team in Kansas City five days later.
Since joining Inter Miami in 2023, Messi has carefully managed his playing schedule, with the club often resting him during periods of fixture congestion.
The MLS season is currently on pause because of the World Cup.
Although Messi has yet to officially confirm his participation in the tournament, he is widely expected to feature in what would be his sixth World Cup appearance, equalling the all-time record.
Argentina are expected to announce their final squad next week before travelling to the United States for warm-up matches against Honduras national football team on June 6 and Iceland national football team on June 9.
