The Lagos State Government has sealed more than 20 properties in Ikeja Local Government Area over violations of the state’s physical planning regulations.
The enforcement exercise was conducted by the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) as part of ongoing efforts to uphold compliance with planning laws and development standards.

According to a statement issued on Saturday, the operation was supervised by the Permanent Secretary in the Office of Physical Planning, Olayinka Wasiu, alongside the General Manager of LASPPPA, Kehinde Osinaike, and other officials.
The affected properties comprised vacant plots, unfinished buildings, and structures with unauthorized extensions found to be in breach of the Lagos State Physical Planning Law.
Addressing journalists during the exercise, Wasiu said the enforcement was intended to reduce the risk of building collapse, encourage orderly urban development, and ensure adherence to approved planning regulations.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property by enforcing laws designed to promote a secure and sustainable built environment.
Wasiu explained that owners of the affected properties had previously received contravention notices informing them of the necessary steps to regularize their developments before the enforcement action was carried out.
He advised property owners and developers to secure all required planning permits and official approvals before commencing construction or making structural modifications.
The permanent secretary emphasized that compliance with physical planning regulations is essential for achieving sustainable urban growth.
He further stated that the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, through LASPPPA, would continue to strengthen its monitoring and enforcement operations across Lagos to tackle illegal developments and protect the integrity of the state’s built environment.
According to Wasiu, the authority remains focused on creating an orderly, visually appealing, and legally compliant environment in line with the Lagos State Government’s vision of building a safe, modern, and sustainable megacity.
