He dedicated the award to the Board, management, and workforce of the Central Bank of Nigeria, commending their unwavering dedication to institutional transformation, financial stability, and economic progress.
According to Cardoso, the recognition reflects the collective contributions of the entire CBN rather than an individual accomplishment. He praised the professionalism, expertise, and commitment of the Bank’s employees, whose efforts behind the scenes have helped strengthen the institution and boost confidence in Nigeria’s financial system.
“I am privileged to accept this award on behalf of the Board, Management, and staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria,” Cardoso said.
“Most importantly, this recognition belongs to the many committed professionals who serve the institution with integrity, competence, and a strong sense of responsibility to the public.”
Speaking on the global economic environment, the CBN governor noted that central banks around the world have faced unprecedented challenges in recent years, with Nigeria also navigating significant economic pressures and policy hurdles.
He highlighted several key initiatives undertaken by the apex bank, including measures aimed at curbing inflation, implementing major foreign exchange market reforms, and investing in critical financial and digital infrastructure to support long-term economic development.
Cardoso explained that the Bank’s reform programme has been driven by the need to rebuild confidence in the economy, strengthen institutional effectiveness, enhance policy credibility, and create a solid platform for sustainable growth.
He reaffirmed the Central Bank’s commitment to maintaining public trust, ensuring monetary and financial system stability, and carrying out its responsibilities with transparency, accountability, and professionalism.
The award recognises the CBN’s ongoing efforts to implement reforms designed to improve economic management, strengthen the financial sector, and support Nigeria’s long-term development objectives.
