Interswitch has partnered with the Asaba Airport Company to roll out a smart parking system at Asaba International Airport, aimed at improving operational efficiency and user experience.
The initiative involves deploying the Interswitch Parking Management Platform (PMP), an automated solution designed to streamline parking and access control within the airport. The system is expected to deliver a secure, seamless, and fully digital parking process for travellers, visitors, and airport staff.

With rising passenger numbers and increased vehicle traffic across Nigeria’s airports, the demand for smarter infrastructure and better traffic coordination has grown significantly. The introduction of the PMP at Asaba Airport is set to provide real-time parking insights, speed up vehicle entry and exit, ease congestion, and enhance traffic flow throughout the airport environment.
Speaking on the collaboration, Nnenna Ajanwachuku, Vice President of Transport Ecosystem at Interswitch, said the move reflects the company’s commitment to leveraging technology to drive efficiency, transparency, and seamless user experiences. She noted that the solution not only addresses operational bottlenecks but also supports revenue growth and sustainable infrastructure development, positioning Asaba Airport as a model for modern airport systems in Nigeria.
Beyond improving convenience and enabling cashless parking, the platform strengthens revenue management by digitising transactions and reducing dependence on cash payments. This allows for accurate, real-time tracking of income, minimises revenue leakages, and improves financial accountability.
Through its centralised system, the Asaba Airport Company will be able to monitor vehicle movement in real time, enforce access controls more effectively, optimise parking space usage, and enhance coordination across airport operations—marking a shift from manual processes to a more intelligent and proactive system.
Also commenting, Christophe Penninck, Managing Director of the Asaba Airport Company, described the partnership as a major step toward improving service delivery and operational standards. He said the new system would boost efficiency, increase transparency, and enhance the overall passenger experience while strengthening revenue oversight.
A notable benefit of the PMP is its ability to integrate with existing infrastructure, allowing for a smooth upgrade without major disruptions or expensive system overhauls. This ensures continuity of operations while transitioning to a more advanced framework.
The deployment sets a new standard for smart airport infrastructure in Nigeria, combining automation, digital payments, and real-time data to improve mobility and operational performance. It also highlights the growing role of technology in reshaping the country’s aviation sector.
As Nigeria continues to invest in infrastructure development, the collaboration between Interswitch and the Asaba Airport Company signals a shift toward more intelligent transport systems, where parking and access are streamlined to meet the expectations of modern travellers.
