The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has set its presidential nomination form at ₦100 million as it rolled out the schedule for its 2026 primaries, marking what may be one of the costliest entry thresholds in Nigeria’s opposition space ahead of the next general elections.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party explained that the pricing structure is part of a wider plan to promote transparency, internal democracy, and adherence to electoral rules.

The timetable shows that nomination forms will be available from May 5 to May 10, while submissions are slated for May 11 through May 13. Screening of aspirants will take place on May 14 and 15, with results expected by May 17.
Appeals from the screening exercise will be addressed between May 18 and 19, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be published on May 20.
Primary elections are set to kick off on May 21, beginning with State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate contests. Governorship primaries will follow on May 22.
The presidential primary is scheduled for May 25, after which a National Executive Committee meeting will hold on May 26, leading into a Special National Convention on May 27 for final approvals.
In addition to the ₦100 million presidential form, the ADC fixed nomination fees at ₦50 million for governorship aspirants, ₦20 million for Senate seats, ₦10 million for House of Representatives positions, and ₦3 million for State Assembly tickets.
To encourage broader participation, the party introduced concessions, granting a 50 percent discount for young aspirants and 25 percent reductions for women and persons with disabilities.
The ADC also called on party members and stakeholders to strictly follow the outlined timetable, signalling its preparedness to begin the process of selecting candidates for the upcoming electoral cycle
