Former Benue Assembly Speaker Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh and 36 other aspirants have emerged as Peoples Democratic Party candidates for the Benue State House of Assembly elections.
Dajoh, who earlier pulled out of the All Progressives Congress assembly primaries, later dumped the ruling party for the PDP.

The ex-speaker stepped down from his position in August 2025 after the leadership crisis that hit the Benue State House of Assembly. He was later replaced by Alfred Emberga.
Also confirmed as a PDP flag bearer is the party’s media consultant in the state, Bemgba Iortyom.
The development was announced in a statement issued on Saturday by the Benue PDP Publicity Secretary, Bright Yima Antyo, and released to journalists in Makurdi.
Part of the statement read, “The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party on Friday, May 22, 2026, successfully ratified 37 consensus candidates as the party’s standard-bearers for the State House of Assembly elections.
“Those affirmed include Ayo Jeremiah Terungwa for Kwande East, Igbaakaa Aondoakura James for Konshisha I, Girgi Daniel Terlumun for Tiev/Vandeikya, John Anthony Ikwulono for Agatu, Ekirigwe Moses Adams for Oju I, and Oragande Iveren Geoffrey for Katsina-Ala East.
“Others are Utsan Ngusha Frederick for Gwer East, Adugh Mtindiga for Katsina-Ala West, Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh for Gboko West, Emmanuel Benjamin for Konshisha II, and Ikpa Ambrose Aondowase for Makurdi South-East.
“Also successful are Bemsen Agugu Bernard for Mbagwa, John Tersur for Tarka, Unah Gabriel for Apa, Chula Fidelis Iorkase for Kwande West, Akooma Aondoakura Aaron for Logo, Ukaa Ikyuan Abraham for Ukum II, Mtagher Rodney Ortwer for Agasha, and Dickson Igbe Uwagh for Makurdi South.
“The list further includes Joseph Agada Anyebe for Ogbadibo, Prince Tyodoo Livinus for Ukum I, Dzever Terkimbi for Buruku, Shawa Terungwa Moses for Gboko Central, Olofu Gabriel Adah for Adoka/Ugboju, Ochekliye Agbo Isaac for Ohimini, and Onche Peter Ogbor for Obi constituency.
“Others are Bemgba Iortyom for Mata, Manger Timothy for Nyamatsor, Gyila Solomon Terlumun for Gwer West, Dugeri Benjamin Ternenge for Kyan, Ilom Jerome for Okpokwu, Nomji Oroduen Titus for Makurdi North, Johnson Ahubi Egli Johnson for Otukpo/Akpa, and Ochapa Isaac Odang for Ado constituency.
“Also on the list are Iormbagah Jacob Aondohemba for Guma I, Ogbugo Christian Egbe for Oju II, and Chia Lubem Asuwa for Gboko East.”
