Shakira and Burna Boy
International music star Shakira has launched “Dai Dai,” the official theme song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring Nigerian Grammy-winning Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy.
The Colombian singer announced the release of the much-awaited track on Friday through her social media platforms.

The song is currently available on major streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and Amazon Music.
She wrote: “Dai Dai is here. The @FIFAWorldCup 2026 starts now!”
FIFA also confirmed the release in a statement shared via its X account, noting that the song is now accessible on streaming platforms worldwide.
According to FIFA, the collaboration between Shakira and Burna Boy, released through Sony Music Latin, reflects the excitement, passion and global unity associated with the World Cup.
The football body explained that “Dai Dai” will serve as the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in support of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.
The initiative is targeted at raising 100 million dollars before the end of the tournament to help children around the world gain access to quality education and football opportunities.
FIFA further revealed that royalties generated from the song will go toward the education fund. Shakira is expected to donate her share of the proceeds, while Sony Music will match the first 250,000 dollars raised.
The inspirational track focuses on themes of perseverance, dreams and togetherness.
In the lyrics, the artistes mention football icons and stars such as Pelé, Diego Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Mohamed Salah, among others.
Several football nations, including Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, England, France, Germany, Mexico, Japan, South Korea and South Africa, were also referenced in the song.
The release marks Shakira’s return to the FIFA World Cup music stage after her popular hits Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) for the 2010 tournament in South Africa and La La La for the 2014 edition in Brazil.
For Burna Boy, the collaboration makes him the second Nigerian artiste to appear on an official FIFA World Cup soundtrack after Davido.
Davido became the first Nigerian musician to feature on a World Cup soundtrack when he teamed up with Trinidad Cardona and Aisha on Hayya Hayya (Better Together) for the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
Meanwhile, FIFA disclosed that Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema will headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles on June 12.
The competition is scheduled to begin on June 11, with Mexico facing South Africa at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
