President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate to screen and confirm Joseph Tegbe as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The request was presented in a letter read on Tuesday by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
In the letter, Tinubu stated, “In line with Section 147(2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, I am pleased to forward for the consideration and confirmation of the Senate, the nomination of Mr Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
He further urged the upper chamber to treat the request with urgency, adding, “While I trust that this request will receive the expeditious attention of the Senate, please accept, Distinguished Senate President and Distinguished Senators, the assurances of my highest regards.”
Following the reading of the letter, Akpabio assured that the request would be given prompt attention and subsequently referred it to the Committee of the Whole for further legislative action.
Tegbe, who hails from Oyo State, is a seasoned fiscal and economic policy expert with more than 35 years of experience across both public and private sectors.
He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led major projects in fiscal reforms, governance improvement, and institutional restructuring. He has also provided advisory services to government agencies and private organisations on regulatory frameworks, investment planning, and strategic reforms.
His nomination comes shortly after Adebayo Adelabu stepped down as Minister of Power to focus on his ambition to contest the Oyo State governorship election.
