The Silverbird Man of the Year Awards have, over two decades, established themselves as one of Nigeria’s most respected platforms for recognising excellence across diverse sectors, including entertainment, business, public service, governance, and creative innovation. This year’s ceremony also spotlighted trailblazers whose creative influence continues to shape industries and inspire the next generation.
The glamorous evening commenced with a stylish red-carpet arrival, setting the tone for a memorable celebration of excellence. Guests were welcomed with the stirring recitation of the Nigerian National Anthem, followed by an inspiring opening address from the Chairman of Silverbird TV, Senator Ben Bruce.

In a well-deserved recognition of purposeful leadership and impactful governance, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State, emerged as the winner of the coveted Silverbird Man of the Year 2025.Other notable honorees at the prestigious event included: Senator Dave Umahi, Minister of Works, who received the Extraordinary Personality of the Year Award Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, both named Governors of the Year Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, awarded Minister of the Year Veteran actress Joke Silva, honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her remarkable decades-long contribution to Nigerian theatre and the growth of Nollywood Omoni Oboli and Ayo Makun, who received Trailblazer Awards for their creative influence and industry impact Several late national icons were also celebrated posthumously for their enduring legacies and selfless service to the nation.Adding vibrancy and energy to the evening, popular music artist 9ice delivered a scintillating live performance that had guests on their feet.
The colourful ceremony attracted a high-calibre audience, including members of the National and State Assemblies, serving and former ministers, traditional rulers, religious leaders, local government chairmen, state executive council members, respected elders, and other critical stakeholders from across the country.Notable personalities in attendance included Senator Ita Giwa, Lagos State Governor’s Secretary Barrister Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, media personality Prince Bisi Olatilo, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, Festus Keyamo, and several other distinguished guests.
