Breaking: FG announces Friday, May 1 as public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Friday a public holiday in observance of this year’s International Workers’ Day.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.

In a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the minister extended his congratulations to workers nationwide as they mark the occasion.

He praised Nigerian workers for their commitment and contributions to the country’s development, noting that their efforts remain vital to national progress and prosperity.

The minister also urged workers to uphold values such as patriotism, diligence, and dedication, stressing that these are key to achieving sustainable growth.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare, ensuring their safety, and fostering an enabling environment for economic advancement.

While wishing workers a joyful celebration, he called on all Nigerians to maintain peace and obey the law, encouraging them to reflect on the significance of unity and hard work in nation-building.
