A joint security operation involving the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has led to the arrest of 46 foreign nationals in Ogun State.
The group consists of 18 nationals from Burkina Faso, 23 from Côte d’Ivoire, four from Togo, and one from Senegal. The suspects include 36 men and 10 women.

The arrests were confirmed on Monday by Major Idereghi Samuel Akari, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 35 Artillery Brigade.
According to Akari, the operation was launched on June 11, 2026, following credible intelligence reports. Security personnel carried out coordinated raids in Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu Ilese, and surrounding communities, leading to the apprehension of the suspects.
Initial findings revealed that the individuals had reportedly been living in the area for approximately six months. Authorities are currently reviewing their immigration records and residency status.
During preliminary interviews, the suspects claimed to be traders and employees linked to QNet, a network marketing company involved in the distribution of various products and services.
Major Akari stated that all 46 individuals have been transferred to the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service for further investigation and appropriate action in accordance with immigration and related laws.
Reacting to the successful operation, the Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Friday Oguche Onu, praised the troops and partner security agencies for their commitment, professionalism, and alertness.
He also encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting unusual or suspicious activities within their communities.
The military noted that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security authorities to strengthen immigration controls, improve border security, and safeguard internal peace and stability across the country.
