Alex Ekubo
The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following reports that popular Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has died at the age of 40 after battling cancer.
The actor was widely recognised as one of Nollywood’s leading stars, celebrated for his performances in movies, modelling career and influence within the entertainment scene.

Born on April 10, 1986, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Ekubo traces his roots to Arochukwu in Abia State. He became known for his striking appearance, charm and commanding presence on screen. He also spoke English, Igbo and Hausa fluently.
He attended Federal Government College Daura for his secondary education before studying Law at the University of Calabar. He later earned another degree in Mass Communication from Calabar Polytechnic.
Ekubo began his acting career professionally in the early 2010s and went on to feature in several successful Nollywood productions, including Lagos Cougars, Weekend Getaway, In the Cupboard, Dream Walker, Hire a Woman, Sugar Rush, Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons and Fate of Alakada.
Over the years, he established himself as one of the leading faces in romantic comedy and modern Nigerian cinema.
The actor also received several honours during his career, including awards from the BEFFTA Awards, Screen Nation Awards, Best of Nollywood Awards and other international film festivals.
Beyond acting, Ekubo remained a prominent figure in entertainment, fashion and social advocacy, maintaining strong relevance in Nollywood and public life.
