Tension spread across parts of Lagos in the early hours of Saturday after a fire broke out at a market in the Yaba area of the state.
The blaze, which reportedly began around 3 a.m., engulfed several shops, with eyewitnesses claiming that numerous goods were destroyed.

Videos and images circulating on social media showed heavy smoke and raging flames consuming sections of the market, as traders and residents rushed to salvage whatever they could from the inferno.
