US President Donald Trump has announced that frozen Iranian assets under American control will be used to compensate for damage caused to ships and cargo targeted in and around the Gulf.
In a post shared on Truth Social on Thursday, Trump declared that, until further notice, compensation for any losses involving vessels, cargo or related property would be drawn from Iranian funds currently held by the United States.

He stated that the money in US custody would be used to cover the cost of any future damage to maritime assets linked to attacks in the region.
