Nollywood actress Cynthia Anijekwu has made an emotional appeal to Nigerians for financial assistance after revealing that she is battling cancer for the second time.
In a video shared on social media on Tuesday, the actress disclosed that she was first diagnosed with cancer in 2023. She underwent surgery followed by chemotherapy in an effort to overcome the disease, and her condition initially improved after treatment.

However, Anijekwu said the cancer later returned and has now spread to her bones, requiring more advanced medical care, including radiation therapy and another surgical procedure.
According to the actress, recent medical examinations confirmed that the disease has metastasized to her bones, significantly increasing the cost of her treatment to about N600,000 every month.
She explained that her doctors have recommended radiation therapy alongside another operation as part of her ongoing treatment plan.
Recalling her health journey, Anijekwu said, “I was diagnosed with cancer in 2023. I underwent surgery and chemotherapy, but the illness came back. I’ve been in and out of the hospital, and my doctor recently told me it has spread to my bones. The treatment is now far more expensive.”
Making an emotional plea, she added, “I want to live. I want to survive. I’m appealing to Nigerians to please come to my aid. Anyone who can help, please help me. Even my hands are swollen, and the cancer has affected both of my breasts. I want to live. Please help me survive.
“Every contribution counts. Your one naira or two naira can make a difference and help me receive the treatment I urgently need. I sincerely beg for your support.”
Before her health challenges became public, Anijekwu built a career in Nollywood, featuring in several English- and Igbo-language productions.
While she has appeared in a number of film projects, there is no widely documented record of a major blockbuster role or an extensive mainstream filmography. In recent years, public attention has largely centred on her battle with cancer.
The actress said the financial burden of her medical care has become overwhelming for her family, prompting her to seek support from kind-hearted Nigerians to continue her treatment.
