Nigerian singer Qdot has publicly apologised to members of the Muslim community following comments he acknowledged were offensive to the Islamic faith.
In a statement shared on his X account, the indigenous street-pop artiste expressed regret over the remarks and extended his apology to Muslims, particularly those who practise their faith with sincerity, compassion and integrity.

Qdot admitted that some of his comments may have been perceived as insulting or disrespectful toward Islam and its adherents, stressing that causing offence was never his intention.
The singer said he deeply regretted his actions and acknowledged the importance of religious beliefs to millions of people.
According to him, he holds Islam and its teachings in high regard and recognises the significance of respecting all faiths.
Expressing remorse, Qdot appealed for understanding and forgiveness from those who felt hurt by his words.
He also pledged to be more thoughtful and respectful when discussing religious matters in the future.
“I sincerely apologise to all Muslims, especially those who uphold the values of kindness, honesty and faith. If anything I said came across as offensive, insulting or disrespectful to Islam or its beliefs, I am truly sorry,” he wrote.
“I never intended to hurt anyone, and I deeply regret my careless remarks. Faith is sacred to many people, and I respect the teachings and values of Islam.
“I ask for your forgiveness and promise to be more mindful, respectful and responsible in my words concerning all religions going forward. May we continue to live together in peace, harmony and mutual understanding.”
The apology has since generated reactions online, with many commending the singer for taking responsibility and addressing the concerns raised by members of the Muslim community.
