In an Instagram Story posted on Tuesday, Denrele, who celebrated his 45th birthday on June 13, explained that the gesture was a tribute to his personal journey and the many experiences that have shaped his life over the years.
According to him, the self-marriage symbolises self-love, growth and appreciation for the challenges and victories he has encountered throughout his four-and-a-half decades.
Reflecting on his life, he described it as a journey marked by glamour, struggles, reinvention, resilience, controversy, heartbreak and success.
“After 45 years of chaos, glitter, survival, reinvention, controversy, resilience, heartbreak and triumph, I remain the greatest love story I’ve ever known,” he wrote.
Denrele said the decision was driven by a desire to celebrate the one person who has remained with him through every season of life—himself.
He explained that the symbolic union was not merely about the present version of himself, but also a recognition of every stage, challenge and transformation that brought him to where he is today.
“I am both the bride and the groom. I am celebrating every version of myself that endured, persevered and fought to get here. Today, I honour the one person who never abandoned me—myself,” he stated.
Known for his bold fashion choices, vibrant personality and unconventional approach to life and entertainment, Denrele concluded the announcement with a signature flourish, describing himself as “The Bride. The Groom. The Happily Ever After.”
The self-marriage declaration has since attracted attention online, with many interpreting it as a powerful statement on self-acceptance, personal growth and self-worth.
