The Togolese government has announced the abolition of visa requirements for citizens of all African nations visiting the country for short-term stays.
The decision was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement released by Togo’s Ministry of Security through its official X account.

Under the new arrangement, Africans with valid national passports can now enter Togo without obtaining a visa for visits lasting up to 30 days.
The ministry explained that the initiative is aimed at advancing African unity and encouraging free movement across the continent.
“Togo is taking a landmark step toward reinforcing African integration. From now on, citizens of African countries with a valid national passport may access Togolese territory without a visa for stays not exceeding 30 days.
“Through this significant reform, the President of the Council reiterates his determination to position Togo as a hub of openness, mobility, opportunities and collaboration within Africa,” the statement stated.
Despite the waiver, authorities clarified that travellers must still submit a travel declaration through the government’s official online platform at least 24 hours before departure to secure a travel slip.
The ministry further stressed that the policy reflects Togo’s dedication to regional integration and stronger relations among African states.
The move places Togo among a growing number of African countries relaxing entry restrictions for fellow Africans in a bid to enhance trade, tourism and continental cooperation.
Rwanda had earlier introduced a similar visa-free entry policy for Africans.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian government has begun implementing a 30-day visa-free arrangement for Rwandan citizens visiting the country.
